This 3x4 foot painting inspired from Orson Welles 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast can be yours! It is being framed in actual salvaged and restored oak wood planks from within the Observatory. NOW crafted into a stunning new one of a kind frame given to me for this painting of the former historic 1930s FitzRandolph Observatory right before it was torn down in 2020.

This painting is # 3 in an ongoing series of my War of the Worlds illustrated painted series.
THE OBSERVATORY AT PRINCETON was mentioned and plays a big part in the broadcast that debuted on Halloween Eve in 1938.
Some say it scared the nation of listeners that night when some did not realize Orson Welles radio play was just a radio show reenactment of a classic that was designed to make listeners think it was a breaking news story of an invasion from Mars.
They first were reported to have landed in Grovers Mill NJ, hence my scenes one and two. I imagined as the Martian tripods made their way towards Jersey City and NYC they would have wanted to destroy the telescope that was keeping an eye on their arrival. Scene three was then born...and this was the actual real observatory that was in use and opened in 1934 and during this infamouse radio hoax.
